A Teixeira Academy affiliation is open to anyone who loves the art and strives to uphold the ideals of respect, integrity and self-discovery through their teaching and practice of jiu jitsu.

We are concerned to educate through the philosophy of Jiu-Jitsu, we follow some norms to profecionalize the exercise of the activity of teacher, giving greater seriousness & safety for the students. In addition, it aims to supervise the operation of affiliated academies and hold annual championships to publicize the sport and development of athletes.

If you’re interested in become an instructor by our Training Program, we’d love to have a conversation with you to see why you’d like to be involved and also if you are the kind of person suited to representing the movement. Our goal is to spread Jiu Jitsu throught the world in the correct way.

In areas where there are insufficient numbers of certified black belts to serve as instructors, brown or purple belts will be allowed to sign as instructors.
​
However, they can only instruct and graduate students who are ranked below their own rank.
Although in these circumstances the brown or purple belts are considered instructors, they still require a higher belt to certify their own belt graduations.

Our school offers instructor certification at 3 levels:
To become a certified Instructor, you must be able to pass the Teixeira Academy belt test. Students from the blue range can take the course.

BJJ Junior instructor - Basic Certification test (Purple belt)
BJJ Senior instructor Certification test (Brown belt)
BJJ Black belt Certification

This tests are done during an in-person training session at Teixeira Academy headquarters in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil or you can book a seminar at your own school. (Seminars will required at least four days of activities) You will then be a certified Teixeira BJJ instructor or a Black belt teacher.
All didactic material, as well as Certificate of Completion, will be provided. You will be added to our Brazilian Jiu jitsu Family tree.
The course is the first step for those who want to open a Teixeira Brazilian Jiu-jitsu affiliated school.
There will be optional training sessions every day for participants.
Regardless of your technical level, this course will change your basic understanding of Jiu-Jitsu.
In this course, you will learn how to teach classes in your academy maintaining an international teaching standard.

Once you have achieved the instructor certification through Teixeira Academy and are teaching at an approved center, you can continue to progress through the Jiu jitsu levels. You must demonstrate increased skill in jiu jitsu itself.

By the INTERNATIONAL BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU FEDERATION & US FEDERATION OF BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU, certified black belts are automatically authorized to teach any level below their own. The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation prefers that as the students gain belt levels, they would began instructing at lower levels, to allow them to gain instructor experience gradually.

Instruction to become a black belt can only be administered by those who have attained the rank of second degree black belt.
